On a chilly morning of December 21, 2024, the Camera and Coffee Collective decided to take a long drive to Ras Al Khaimah to capture the routines of the fishermen in the morning.

Al Rams village Ras Al Khaimah is located almost on the border with Oman, so it is close to a two-hour drive from my place. The plan was to arrive before sunrise since the fishermen would be gone fishing after that… however, it seems that they were taking a day off on this particular Saturday. Or maybe there just wasn’t much activity happening for some reason, but I still captured whatever was happening in front of my eyes. Afterwards, we took a brief walk in the village itself which is mostly abandoned, sadly… the results you can see below. All shot with Canon R5 and 24-240 Canon lens (which is not the greatest piece of glass, but convenient for such situations).

Wandering through Al Rams, I was struck by the contrast between the timeless rhythms of daily life and the encroaching signs of modernity. Fishermen mended their nets by the shore, their hands moving with the ease of generations before them, while just beyond, sleek yachts hinted at the changing face of the coastline. The air smelled of salt and history, a quiet reminder that this place has witnessed centuries of stories, each tide carrying whispers of the past
