What happened after we visited the abandoned school in Ras Al Khaimah (in the previous post)? Well, pretty much the same group of people decided to go for a photowalk at 6 AM next day in the old Dubai before it was getting too hot. It was already 33 degrees at the crack of dawn, so that plan didn’t really work. Then the notification of the photowalk was not official and obvious enough. Then someone didn’t see it, and someone felt excluded, and someone decided to bash the rest of the group, which resulted in this group to have never gathered again since that day.
Consequently, I have walked with my camera around a bunch of times, but much less than before, and never in any new places really.
I felt conflicted sharing things on social media, where we would usually tag each other to promote the love of photography and documenting the streets of the UAE. I felt a bit sad that the community we built could be so easily dispersed – but in this day and age, nobody is really attached to anything.
But it is time to suck it up, get out to enjoy the weather, and write some more.
So apologies for the extended leave. Let’s get back to the regular programming.
